“Bring hope, and peace to my city, and accomplish more than what the system got planned for us [youth of Chicago]”
Through Dajohn’s work through Rebels for Peace and the global nonprofit One Solution, Dajohn has discovered that his own inner peace creates a ripple effect for others and his community. He explains that positive thoughts of motivation and hope turn into seemingly small actions of giving, which then turns into larger actions that contribute to the betterment of his community. Dajohn’s dream is for these thoughts turned action to catalyst a global movement of inspired motivation, hope, and drive so that others can change their communities in a seemingly simple but profound way.
Of course there are challenges to Dajohn’s dream. Dajohn points out that these challenges are reaching this movement of inner peace and the betterment of mindsets to the right people : to the people that need it and the people that can support the movement. But Dajohn is motivated beyond the challenges because of the uniqueness of Rebels for Peace. This movement of the mind, this movement for inner peace against fear, anger, and violence, is what makes his organization unique because in his own words it’s a movement that, “starts from the inside out”. For Dajohn starting from the inside out is the solution for fear and violence in his community, and the solution for global change.
