Our program, ‘Mentorship Turned Inside Out’ is based on the intersection between business and community. One Solution believes that corporations and communities do not live in separate worlds. They are part of an interconnected ecosystem that influence each other. One Solution offers unique opportunities to bring these groups together to learn and collaborate in unexpected ways, improving the holistic impact they can have on their local and global communities.
“Mentorship Turned Inside Out” brings organizational leadership teams together with teens and young adults from at-risk communities, flipping the typical mentorship model on its head. Rather than professional adults mentoring at-risk youth, the professionals have the unique opportunity to be mentored by the teens. International CEOs, sales professionals, and more have learned about their minds and how to handle challenges at work and in life from teens who have learned how to better navigate conflict on the streets of South Side Chicago, or behind the barb-wired walls of Gaza. Many of these teens used to be involved in violence, or were hopeless about the challenges in their communities, but have recently become powerful leaders of change. How did they do it? We provide roundtable discussion opportunities where young people teach what they’ve learned about the mind, which professionals quickly find directly applies to leadership and change in ANY environment, not just on the streets.
